Real Madrid fullback, Marcelo said goodbye to the Los Blancos today after a 16-year stint at the club. The ceremony was attended by many Real Madrid players and manager, Carlo Ancelotti who was seen shedding tears following the Brazilian’s exit from Santiano Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti managed Real Madrid twice in his career, from 2013 to 2015 and from 2021 to now. Winning the Champions League both times at the club with this time, Marcelo leading the team. Former Real Madrid player Raul was also present among the attendees and was seen crying following Marcelo’s exit from the club.
Marcelo leaves Real Madrid as their most decorated player
Marcelo joined Real Madrid back in 2007 for just €6 million. He went on to make 546 appearances for the club, which included 38 goals and an astonishing 103 assists. With 25 trophies in that period, Marcelo leaves the club as their most decorated player ever.
Together with Carlo Ancelotti and Marcelo won 2 Champions League titles, 1 Club World Cup, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 Copa del Rey and 1 La Liga title. Although Marcelo never got a chance to play much under Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu, the duo shared a special relationship all the time.
Marcelo hasn’t revealed his future plans yet. Although, the player confirmed that his playing days aren’t over and will look for a new club now. Carlo Ancelotti on the other hand is set to continue at Real Madrid after winning the La Liga and Champions League with them this season.
