In a recent interview by the Manchester United midfielder, Nemanja Matic praised Cristiano Ronaldo for appreciating him in his final home game for the Red Devils before getting substituted in the second half.
Ronaldo encouraged his fighting spirit as he served the Red Devils for several years. The 33-year-old Serbian received a standing ovation before leaving the field in his last match at the Old Trafford as he began a lap of appreciation.
“I feel great and it’s really great to say goodbye to the club and the fans in such a wonderful way. There were 75,000 people in the stands,” said Matic.
“I wanted to get off the field as soon as possible because I don’t like to have something revolving around me and to be in the center of attention, but Ronaldo told me ‘Wait, what are you doing? Come back. It is a great honor to share a dressing room with him every day”, added the Manchester United player.
Nemanja Matic is one of the few players to leave the club after his contract expires this summer as he played his last game against Brentford in a 3-0 win. He expressed his feeling after playing his last match and was overwhelmed by fans’ reactions as he bade adieu to the Old Trafford. Matic on the other hand said he would have preferred to go back to the dressing room before Ronaldo stopped him for the appreciation.
Is Cristiano Ronaldo planning to leave Manchester United this summer?
Cristiano Ronaldo might leave Manchester United after their miserable season which will conclude with just a game to play. They couldn’t manage to get their name in the Champions League next season and might be seen Europa League once more.
