Noel Le Graet, the head of the French Football Federation, has been chastised by Kylian Mbappe after he stated the superstar striker was planning to leave the national squad after Euro 2020.
Mbappe was considering retiring from international football after receiving insults after missing his side’s game-winning penalty vs Switzerland at Euro 2020, according to Le Graet. He said that the Paris Saint-Germain player was irritated by the criticism’s lack of support.

Kylian Mbappe opens up about missed penalty at the Euros:
“After his missed penalty and the criticism on the networks,” Le Graet told Le Journal Du Dimanche, “I visited with him after the Euros, and he thought the Federation had not protected him. We had a five-minute meeting in my office.”
“He was angry, he didn’t want to play for the French team anymore – which he obviously didn’t mean. You know how it is, he’s a winner, he was very frustrated, like all of us, by the elimination. He’s so media-friendly. He’s a great guy, much more collective than people think.”
Mbappe lost no time in responding to Le Graet’s idea, taking to social media to do so. He wrote on Twitter: “Yes, I eventually conveyed to him that it was all about racism, not the penalty. However, he believed there had been no racism…”
Following the forward’s penalty failure in last year’s postponed competition, France was knocked out of Euro 2020. After Euro 2020, the 23-year-old, who has 57 international caps to his name, continues to represent France.
In the UEFA Nations League, he played in all but one of his team’s games, which included meetings against Denmark, Austria, and Croatia.
