Edinson Cavani showed his class by making a young Manchester United fan’s day outside Old Trafford following his side’s 3-0 win over Brentford. The Uruguayan striker came on for the final few minutes of the game in what is expected to be his final appearance at Old Trafford.
In footage shared by Alison Bender on social media, one young fan got the opportunity to meet her hero following Monday night’s match. In the video, a young girl, Lola, gave her idol a big hug and started crying, requesting him to stay at Manchester United. The caption on the video stated that Lola was “so scared to meet her idol in case he wouldn’t live up to her expectations.”
Cavani also consoled his fan before showing a class act as he agreed to her request of wearing one of her hairbands.
Edinson Cavani is expected to leave Manchester United when his contract expires in the summer with the likes of Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard also departing. The Uruguayan netted an impressive 17 goals in 39 games during his debut campaign and immediately became a fan favorite at Old Trafford thanks to his exemplary work ethic.
However, this season, he has struggled with injuries and missed a large portion of the season, and just has two goals in eighteen appearances to show for it, but that hasn’t tarnished his reputation in the eyes of his biggest fan.
What could be Edinson Cavani’s next destination after Manchester United?
It’s unclear where Edinson Cavani will be playing his football next season, although it will almost certainly be away from Old Trafford. The Uruguayan star has already represented the likes of Palermo, Napoli, and Paris Saint-Germain and league and Champions League football.
Reported interests are from Spain and Italy with the likes of Athletico Madrid, Juventus, and Napoli where Cavani made his name are on the horizon, while Boca Juniors could be an option if Cavani. decides to return to South America.
