Arda Guler‘s unveiling at Real Madrid left his mother in tears. The Los Blancos introduced the Turkey international as the club’s next promising young signing. The 18-year-old’s transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu club was finalized on Thursday, with Madrid paying Fenerbahce paying €20 million upfront.
Guler’s mother was overcome with emotion after witnessing her son Arda introduced as a Real Madrid footballer. Serap Guler was spotted crying while a video of Güler’s career highlights was being shown at Real Madrid. The left-footed midfielder wiped his mother’s tears aside before kissing her on the cheek. Guler’s father also put his wife’s hand in his to soothe her.
The 18-year-old sprang to prominence following a run of excellent performances for Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce. He has been called the ‘Turkish Messi’ as a consequence of his achievements. Last season, Guler scored six goals in 35 appearances for Fenerbahce.
“I repeat that there have been many clubs that have presented their offers. But as soon as Real Madrid appeared, all of the others lost importance,” were the words Guler said about his move to Real Madrid.

In his welcome message for Real Madrid’s newest acquisition, Arda Guler, Vinicius Junior seems to have poked fun at rivals Barcelona. Los Blancos confirmed the signing of Fenerbache SK’s Guler. Guler’s arrival was announced on Twitter by Real Madrid, and the message was retweeted by Vinicius Jr.
In his retweet, Vinicius said, “One more that chooses the largest.” (as translated from Spanish) This was seen as a dig at local rivals Barcelona. In past seasons, the Catalan club had hoped to recruit Vinicius and Rodrygo Goes. Both players ended up choosing Los Blancos instead, and history repeated itself this summer with Guler.
The Blaugrana have been discussing Guler with Fenerbahce for quite some time. They had also apparently agreed on personal terms with the attacker, who was scheduled to join them in the summer of 2024. However, Real Madrid swooped in a few days ago and tried quickly to urge the youngster to join them immediately.
