WATCH: Barcelona fans cant get Robert Lewandowski’s jersey as stores run out of the letter W

Robert Lewandowski joined the Blaugrana from Bayern Munich for £42 million and is the club’s fourth signing of the summer. Even if Memphis Depay fails to secure a transfer away, it is expected that Lewandowski will take the number nine shirt currently worn by the Dutch international.

However, if you want to buy one, you’re out of luck. Due to a ‘W’ letter shortage, Lewandowski shirts are unavailable at the megastore outside the Camp Nou. The materials needed to label the surname of Barcelona’s brand new signing for next season, Robert Lewandowski, were unavailable at the club’s official store.

In an Instagram video, a fan asked an employee of the official Barcelona store why he couldn’t buy the new jersey with the Polish striker’s name on it. “Why can’t we buy jerseys with Lewandowski?”, he asks before being told, “Because we don’t have the letter W and because he has two in his name, we have run out.”

After pleading to leave Bayern in recent weeks, the 33-year-old has joined his new teammates in Miami as part of Barcelona’s pre-season tour. He was forced to report for Bayern training last week and appeared to want to be anywhere but there. Lewandowski had one year left on his contract with the Bundesliga giants and declared in May that his time with the club was “over”.

The Pole is looking forward to a new challenge in La Liga and can’t wait to get started. He told Barcelona’s official website: “I’m finally here. I’m delighted to be at Barca. The last few days have been very long, but the deal is done and now I can focus on a new chapter and challenge in my life. I’ve always wanted to play in La Liga and for the big clubs. I’m here to help Barca get back to the top and win as many titles as possible.”

In addition to Lewandowski, manager Xavi has brought in Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, and Raphinha. The club is still negotiating with Sevilla defender Jules Kounde and Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva; deals if completed could power Barcelona back to La liga and Champions League contentions.
