WATCH: “Hang a photo of that John Stones goal”- Arsenal fans concede defeat in Premier League after Manchester City takes a 2-0 lead
The Englishman doubled Manchester City's lead as the hosts look to cement their title defence
The Etihad Stadium roared yet again in the first-half stoppage time as John Stones netted a second for Manchester City against Arsenal. The Blue half of Manchester knew that a win at their hunting ground could seriously dent the Gunners’ title hopes and dreams. And with the Englishman doubling City’s lead, it seems to be a question of how many at this point.
Stones headed in a Kevin De Bruyne cross from a free-kick. Initially adjudged to have been off-side, VAR overturned the decision after Ben White’s right foot kept the centre-back onside. This is the Englishman’s second goal this season, and he could not have picked out a better time to score it.
The London club seem more defeated than they actually might be at this point. With 45 minutes of play left in this game, it does seem unlikely that Arsenal will be able to stage a comeback. However, Mikel Arteta’s men have shown us that they are capable of producing the impossible this season.
