In protest against the Glazer family amid the continuing ownership dispute, Manchester United supporters blocked the entrance to the team’s Megastore on Tuesday. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim have submitted competing offers to purchase the Old Trafford club. But as the procedure is drawing on for almost six months, people are becoming impatient.
In November of last year, the Glazer family made known that they would be selling the club. However, they have not yet chosen which bidder to support for the sale. Sheikh Jassim and his group aim to acquire the entire club. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s offer, on the other hand, aims to allow the Glazers to retain some level of involvement in the team.
As a result, the supporters demonstrated in public. They planned the demonstration in front of the Manchester United Megastore, which is situated in front of the team’s stadium, Old Trafford. The 1958, a group of supporters, planned the demonstration to coincide with the unveiling of the team’s new home shirt.
The 1958 stated in a statement that it had previously confirmed the protest preparations. They said: “The overwhelming majority of United fans want to see a conclusion to this protracted sale process with the majority supporting a full sale, at least based on our soundings. Protest planned on Tuesday to make that message clear.”

United projects positive revenue despite takeover drama
As the club’s ownership crisis continues, Manchester United has forecast a record annual income of up to £640 million for the current fiscal year. Despite the club’s takeover being on hold, its financial situation has improved. Although the situation has angered the supporters, the team still benefits from them.
The third quarter financial results for the period ending March 31, 2023, which were disclosed on Tuesday, increased the revenue projection for the current fiscal year to a record £630 million to £640 million. Record match attendance and matchday income are the factors driving this. With 2.4 million tickets sold, the 2022–23 season’s ticket sales broke the previous mark established in 2016–17.
The number of global memberships reached 360,000, according to United, making it the greatest paid membership program in all of sport. Due to United’s participation in the Europa League rather than the Champions League, broadcasting revenues were somewhat lower than during the same time. Overall, the club has performed well in the financial area.
