Uruguay suffered a shocking exit despite handling an easy defeat to Ghana 2-0 in their last Group H match in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani went a little further with his frustration regarding the VAR and smashed down a VAR screen installed near one of the exits in front of the tunnel. The game saw a controversial penalty turnover and shock after South Korea beat Portugal to move second in the group.
South Korea changed their fate after they defeated Portugal in a massive stoppage-time winner, which made them equal points with Uruguay (4), but the Koreans went ahead of Goal Scored, as the Goal difference also stood the same between the two. The Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez was torn after the match was turned over to them. The easy defeat could have added one more goal to Uruguay’s basket as Nunez denied a penalty in the 57th minute.
The players were all either fuming over the VAR’s ridiculous call, or were spotted mudded into tears. The whole could have been a straight jump for the Uruguayan side but as the Portuguese conceded a goal and lost the match against South Korea things happened to turn upside down for Uruguay. After the match was ended the players were found in a verbal altercation with the German referee who snatched away their penalty.
