Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish clashed with legendary Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa during a preseason match in Houston on Wednesday night.

To say the least, it was an eventful first half. Kevin De Bruyne scored the game’s first goal from distance at NRG Stadium. Club America’s Henry Martin equalised in the 43rd minute, but De Bruyne, who led City to their fourth Premier League title in five years last season with a career-high 15 goals and eight assists, scored again before halftime to give City a 2-1 lead.

In between all of the goalmouth action, a frustrated Jack Grealish clashed with Club America shot-stopper Ochoa after the Mexican’s attempt at sportsmanship backfired. Grealish bundled into Ochoa after a heavy touch in the 27th minute. Moments later, the 37-year-old attempted to help the England international to his feet, but the situation quickly escalated.

Guillermo Ochoa, Mexico’s World Cup 2014 hero, attempted to help Grealish to his feet. However, Grealish reacted by pushing the goalkeeper, resulting in a brawl. Grealish was surrounded by six Club America players before his closest teammate came to his rescue. Emilio Lara, No. 23 for Club America, appeared to lunge into the winger with a clenched fist.

Despite the fact that the game was friendly, the brawl was met with boos inside the stadium. Grealish got into another scrap in the second half, this time with Club America defender Bruno Valdez. The Paraguayan center-back knocked out the former Aston Villa midfielder with a heavy challenge, and Grealish was understandably upset. Away from the ‘handbags,’ City held on to a 2-1 lead to earn their first pre-season victory on their US tour.

Manchester City’s summer transfer business may not be over yet

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has already had a busy summer in terms of both departures and new signings, with Oleksandr Zinchenko set to leave the Etihad. Manchester City has been monitoring Brighton and Hove Albion defender Marc Cucurella as a potential replacement for Zinchenko.

Manchester City has no intention of paying the full £50 million, believing that £30 million is a more accurate value. Following the suspension of Benjamin Mendy, the departure of the Ukraine international would leave a significant void in City’s left-back position. Brighton & Hove Albion are expecting Manchester City to make a move for Marc Cucurella.

Cucurella, 23, signed a five-year contract with Brighton last year, and his debut season was a success, with the Spaniard winning the Seagulls Player of the Year award. Cucurella has made 38 appearances for Brighton in all competitions, scoring one goal and assisting on a further two.
