During the match between Real Madrid and Manchester City, Pep Guardiola was spotted in a verbal spatter with his Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. The coach was heard instructing the KDB to pass the ball and the star man, being more than adept at the game, asked his coach to let him play in his own way.
The first half of the match was totally in the hands of the Blues. And Los Blancos could only see the opponent score two goals before the end of 45 minutes. Bernardo Silva was the main man who led Man City to a 2-0 lead before halftime. However, Los Blancos looked to spring a return at the start of the second half. Being obsessed with total control, the Spaniard did not want to relinquish their command over the game. He was heard shouting at De Bruyne to release the ball earlier to keep it moving.
He was heard screaming, “Pass the ball! Pass the ball!.” Kevin de Bruyne was also a little frustrated about Madrid getting hold of the ball. The Belgian then furiously said “Shut up! Shut up!” In reply to Pep’s advice. The Cityzens eventually scored a crucial third goal to break the resolve of Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
In the post-match interview, Pep Guardiola said, “At 2-0 we rushed a lot. Right after the break Gundogan lost a ball, Kevin made three transitions that weren’t necessary and we rushed a lot when we had to do the opposite, sink them and turn them, sink them and turn them.” He further said “But it’s normal. It gets close, you rush, and it has cost us more, although in general, we have had an extraordinary game.”
