WATCH: Marcelo bids emotional farewell to Real Madrid after 16 years

Marcelo will officially leave Real Madrid after completing 16 seasons and the club. The 34-year-old’s farewell ceremony was held at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium where the player fell in tears as he said his goodbyes to the club.
Speaking at the ceremony, Marcelo said, “I played for the greatest club in the world. I want to thank my wife Clarice, I wouldn’t be the man I am without her. And my sons who watched their dad play for the greatest club in the world.”

Marcelo became the club’s most decorated player with 25 trophies

Since 2007, the fullback went on to make 546 appearances for the club. And in that time he become the club’s most decorated player. The Brazilian won 5 Champions Leagues, 4 Club World Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 5 La Liga titles, 2 Copa del Reys and 4 Spanish Super Cups.
The Brazilian also was one of the best fullbacks in the world during his time at Real Madrid. In 546 games, the player scored 38 goals and provided 103 assists to his teammates. His best season was 2016-17 when Marcelo managed 4 goals and 13 assists in 44 games.
Real Madrid’s president also came down to tears as paid tribute during the farewell ceremony. Fiorentino Perez said, “Today we say thank you to our great captain, one of our biggest legends. The player with the most titles in the history of Real Madrid. Marcelo.”
“Dear Marcelo, you are one of the greatest left-back of the history of Real Madrid and of football. Dear Marcelo, you have fulfilled all the dreams you had when you arrived at only 18 years old.”
