Manuel Akanji
Back in his Dortmund days, new Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji showed off his brilliant mathematical prowess during a training session. The Swiss international is known to be more than decent in maths alongside playing the beautiful game of football.
During an appearance on a TV talk program, defender Manuel Akanji of Borussia Dortmund displayed his capacity to perform mental calculations more quickly than a calculator.
The Switzerland World Cup star astounded the audience by verbally resolving a challenging sum. When questioned about his extraordinary talent afterward, Akanji also said he had solved math problems using car license plates.
Manchester City strengthens their defense by signing Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji:
Manuel Akanji, a center-back from Borussia Dortmund, was acquired by Manchester City on Thursday for 17.5 million euros ($17.5 million).
With Akanji having joined Ruben Dias, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, and Nathan Ake as alternatives for Pep Guardiola, City has an abundance of center-backs on the roster. At the moment, Laporte and Ake are both injured.
Following former Dortmund colleague Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Stefan Ortega Moreno, and Sergio Gomez as City’s fourth and fifth signings of the summer window, respectively, the 27-year-old Akanji, who has made 41 appearances for Switzerland, signed on a five-year agreement. In a January deal, Julian Alvarez also joined from River Plate.
“(City) are brilliant to watch, play an exciting brand of football and compete for trophies year in, year out, so coming here feels like the perfect next step in my career,” the defender stated.
