WATCH: Neymar, Anthony and Richarlison’s priceless reactions to their 2022 Brazil World Cup squad selection
Tite, the manager of Brazil, announced his 26-man squad for the Qatar-hosted FIFA World Cup on Monday. Numerous players, including PSG star Neymar, Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes,Tottenham’s Richarlison , Sevilla’s Alext Telles , and Antony of Manchester United all recorded their reactions to the news and shared it on social media.
While Alex Telles, who is presently on loan to the Spanish club Sevilla, was seated with his wife, Richarlison watching with his family, and Neymar was seated with his son, Antony heard the news with his buddies. Different players responded in different ways. Antony and Richarlison celebrated, and Bruno Guimaraes shared the occasion with his new child.
The group of strikers, who also included Rodrygo, Gabriel Martinelli, and Vinicius Jr., are led by Neymar. Roberto Firmino of Liverpool, who hasn’t played since 2014, was left out.
The 39-year-old former Barcelona right back Dani Alves was also listed among the 26 players. Alves, who participated in his final club match for Mexico’s Pumas in September, acknowledged that some supporters may not have been pleased with his selection.
Philippe Coutinho missed out to Brazil squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
Eight defenders and six midfielders were also selected, but not 2018 World Cup player Philippe Coutinho, who last weekend sustained a quadriceps injury while practising with Aston Villa. Tite and his crew had been keeping an eye on 55 players since 2018 in order to narrow the group and attempt to capture a record-extending sixth World Cup title.
Brazil will compete in Group G in Qatar against Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon. When Brazil lost to Belgium in the quarterfinals in Russia four years ago, Serbia and Switzerland were also in their group.
