WATCH: Neymar brings back his ‘diving’ skill in pre-season friendly for PSG
During Paris Saint-Germain’s pre-season friendly against Gamba Osaka in Japan on Monday, Neymar did nothing to improve his diving reputation. In Japan, Pablo Sarabia gave the visitors a 1-0 lead before Neymar went down inside the box and won a penalty a few minutes later. However, replays revealed that there was very little, if any, contact.
While dribbling in the box, Neymar cleverly used his left foot to cut back inside, allowing him to shoot or cross with his right. Instead, he crumpled to the ground after Gamba Osaka defender Genta Miura went to the ground to try to tackle him.
And, despite the fact that Miura appeared to make the Least bit bit of contact with Neymar, the Brazilian immediately hit the deck, with many fans certain it was a clear dive. However, the referee fooled by Neymar’s play and gave PSG a penalty for Miura’s challenge.
Neymar then picked himself up from the deck and slotted home from the spot. The 30-year-old scored twice in PSG’s 6-2 victory over their Japanese opponents. Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Nuno Mendes, and Pablo Sarabia all scored goals.
Football fans bombarded Neymar’s antics on Twitter calling him a ‘World Class Diver’
However, social media was only able to discuss Neymar’s antics, with one user writing “World Class dive from Neymar Jr.” Here are some Twitter reactions from fans who were not happy with Neymar’s entourage:
Despite playing for the club during pre-season, Neymar’s future at PSG remains uncertain. The forward recently told AFP: “I still want to stay at the club. “So far, the club hasn’t told me anything, so I don’t know what their plans are for me.”
