Pablo Ruiz achieved an impressive feat by scoring a goal from just inside his own half. It contributed to Real Salt Lake’s triumph over 10-man D.C. United with a 2-1 victory on Saturday night. In the early stages of the second half, Danny Musovski added the goal that ultimately secured the win for Salt Lake.

They achieved their fourth away win of the season, which is tied for the best record in the MLS. Ruiz’s remarkable goal was his fourth of the season. It equaled the team’s highest goal tally who have scored multiple goals in all four of their away victories.

Salt Lake’s victory over D.C. United marked only their second win in 12 previous visits to Washington in MLS history. Chris Durkin scored his second goal of the season for D.C. United, but unfortunately, they suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time since March.

D.C. United played most of the game with a numerical disadvantage, as defender Steven Birnbaum was shown a red card for a foul on Musovski that denied an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. Despite being a man down, D.C. managed to create more scoring chances than RSL in the first half. However, the match took a decisive turn when Ruiz produced a magical moment that altered the course of the game.

Reports indicate that Jesse Lingard, a former teammate of DC United manager Wayne Rooney at Manchester United, is poised to join the club this summer. Lingard, who is currently 30 years old, moved to Nottingham Forest on a free transfer in July of the previous year, agreeing to a one-year contract. However, he left Forest after twelve months due to an underwhelming spell where he only made twelve Premier League appearances.

According to the league regulations, DC United has already filled all three designated player slots, which reserve high-profile and high-wage players that do not count against the team’s budget. However, there is a possibility that Lingard could still be registered as an international player if he agrees to a significant reduction in his salary. DC United’s current position in the standings is eighth, with a record of six wins, five draws, and eight losses.
