The former Barcelona star Lionel Messi was booed by PSG ultras. The supporters started chanting “Cristiano Ronaldo, LO LO LO LO LO LO, Cristiano Ronaldo…” when Messi was going to take the free kick against Ajaccio. In the past also PSG fans have done chanting Cristiano Ronaldo’s name against Messi.

The Argentine has 29 appearances this season scoring 15 goals and having 15 assists for PSG, behind only to Kylian Mbappe for PSG this season. The Argentine came back from his suspension which was given by the club, and started the match against Ajaccio. At the Parc des Princes, the crowd jeered when Messi’s name was announced in the lineup and the Argentine was booed when he first touched the ball.

Despite this, Messi had a decent performance. He said, “I’m ashamed of the way we treat Messi. He is not having a disastrous season, he has scored 15 goals and provided 15 assists (in Ligue 1 ). Yes, since the World Cup, it went down, of course. But we are talking about the best or one of the best players in history. We can’t treat him like an ordinary player. We can’t treat it like that. The problem in Paris is that most players are wasted. Apart from Mbappé, who always manages to perform, there are a lot of players who are spoiled by the context. So the problem is not the players; it’s the framework. This framework, this requirement that we must demand day after day, consistency in the construction of the workforce … But that is not Messi’s fault. I think he deserves a little more respect.”

After waiting for five long years Barcelona got over that line in 2022-23 courtesy of a 4-2 derby victory over Catalan neighbors Espanyol. Wild celebrations were sparked on the field at the RCDE Stadium, which then had to be taken back to the dressing room as home supporters stormed the field.

According to Gerard Romero former Barcelona forwards Neymar and Messi spoke with some of those that helped Xavi’s side to glory. Argentine superstar Messi also joined Ronald Araujo’s Instagram live broadcast, leading to the Uruguayan defender saying: “Who’s there? Messi? Damn!”

Current Premier League and Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also passed on his good wishes to Camp Nou by liking a social media post confirming the Blaugrana’s title triumph. Messi continues to be linked heavily with Barcelona to return this summer, as his contract at Paris Saint-Germain runs down towards free agency, with club president Joan Laporta admitting that talks are being held that would see the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner head back to his home The Spotify Camp Nou.
