WATCH: Sevilla fans enjoy free beer upon reaching Denmark for their Champions League contest

Copenhagen give free beer

The plan to welcome the Spanish team didn’t quite work out, as the two teams played to a fairly dreary goalless tie that didn’t provide much by way of entertainment. No offence to Copenhagen, but teams like Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are more enticing places for travelling Spanish fans to spend their hard-earned money on a midweek trip. Copenhagen is not the largest team in the group.

Stewards brought trays of beer into the stands for the Sevilla supporters to simply grab and enjoy it, . A major competition can undoubtedly bring in a lot of cash for a club, but they choose to postpone it out of respect for their visitors.

They simply gave beer away for free to people in attendance at the Telia Parken instead of charging them a bomb. It’s a terrific way to show appreciation for those who came to watch. Football needs more stories like this where the opposing teams work together rather than play like bitter enemies.

Incredible gesture by Copenhagen

Copenhagen give free beer

It appears that the Danish team recognised and chose to reward the Sevilla supporters who had made the effort to get to the game by spending their wonga on a trip to the Telia Parken. There were a lot of vacant seats at the Sevilla end Friday night, despite the fact that travelling to new places or less popular regions in the European tournament may appeal to many.

However, the hosts gave those who had travelled a prize for their efforts, putting their football animosity aside to make an amazing gesture.

With Copenhagen and Sevilla earning their first points of the group stage last night, it comes as no surprise that Manchester City leads the group ahead of Dortmund.
