Cristiano Ronaldo has repeatedly demonstrated throughout his career that he is the man for the big occasion, so Shakira should have known better than to make fun of the former Real Madrid star during a pivotal El Clasico match in 2011.
Ronaldo made a romantic return to Manchester United last summer, but he was enticed away from the Premier League during his first stint at Old Trafford by Los Blancos, who paid a then-record £80 million to bring the Portuguese megastar to the Bernabeu back in 2009.
Ronaldo was unsurprisingly just as prolific in Spain as he was in England. During his nine-year stay in Madrid, Ronaldo scored 450 goals in 438 games, propelling Real to a slew of trophies, including two La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns. But it was during the 2010/11 Copa del Rey final that Ronaldo silenced Shakira, who had previously been the partner of Barcelona star Gerard Pique.
At the start of extra time, the score was 0-0, and Ronaldo had a golden opportunity to win it for Real Madrid. The Portuguese striker, however, missed uncharacteristically, and the cameraman caught Shakira, Pique’s partner at the time, laughing at the former Real Madrid striker.
However, Ronaldo scored an absolute peacher of a header five minutes later when Angel Di Maria curled it inside Barcelona’s penalty area. The stadium crowd, as well as Shakira, were in awe of the striker’s finish, and his teammates were jumping up and down in celebration. Shakira, who had been laughing five minutes before the goal, had her hands on her head as she realised what had happened.

Ronaldo has already missed the first 2 pre-season games of Manchester United after being absent from their tour to Thailand and Australia. It seems the 37-year-old will likely miss the entire pre-season but end up staying at Old Trafford for the next season.
With Ronaldo failing to find a new club, the bookies in London have increased the odds of him staying at manchester United. The odds now stand at 10/11 for Ronaldo to stay with the Red Devils.
