In an interview with The Times, former Manchester United legend and current DC United coach Wayne Rooney was asked about his views on the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the favorite team to lift the trophy. The former United number 10 without any hesitance chose Argentina as the title favorite as he expect them finally have the crown they have been craving since 1986. He said, “For me, Argentina are the favourites. Unlike in 2018, they have plenty of good, solid players around Lionel Messi,”.

Wayne Rooney during his interview was asked about his old teammate Cristiano Ronaldo’s fierce interview with Piers Morgan. The Portuguese were critical of Rooney’s opinion and views on the veteran’s place at Manchester United. Ronaldo accused Rooney and his former teammate Gary Neville along with some other pundits of publically criticizing him for fame.
When asked about his views on Cristiano’s interview he said- “Age comes to all of us“. Maybe the response came as a dig at his former teammate as CR7 criticized the all-time Manchester United top scorer for his poor performances with the fact that being the same age he is still playing among the elites and Rooney has entered the management field.
