“We want one billion, Bruno and Fred the Red for Sesko”- Reb Bull Salzburg names their price for Manchester United target Benjamin Sesko

In a hilarious tweet, Red Bull Salzburg stated that they want ‘one billion, Bruno Fernandes, and mascot Fred the Red’ for Benjamin Sesko. Following a breakthrough season in Austria, the Red Devils are reportedly interested in Sesko.

The teenager scored 11 goals across all competitions to help Salzburg win the league and cup. He also made his senior debut for Slovenia, where he has won 13 caps. Sesko scored the game-winning goal in Salzburg’s 1-0 win over Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

The teenager, who stands at 6ft 4in, has been compared to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, with critics praising his physicality and pace. Since rumours of United’s interest surfaced earlier this month, there has been a lot of speculation about Sesko’s future.

After seeing a tweet from journalist and so-called transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Salzburg’s English Twitter account decided to take action. Romano claimed in the tweet that United are “well informed” about Sesko and is monitoring him. They claim to think he’s “really talented,” but no offer is on the table. With over 10.3 million followers, Romano has one of the most popular transfer accounts on Twitter.

Salzburg’s Twitter account retweeted Romano, writing, “We want 300 million plus Bruno [Fernandes].” The following day, they increased their offer, saying, “Update: We now want one billion, Bruno and Fred the Red for Sesko.”

Can Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko add firepower to underperforming Manchester United’s attack?

Manchester United target Benjamin Sesko

Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez have joined Manchester United since the appointment of new manager Erik ten Hag earlier this summer. Unless they are willing to sacrifice beloved mascot Fred the Red, Sesko is unlikely to be the fourth.

In all seriousness, Salzburg are believed to accept an offer close to £55 million for Sesko. Transfermarkt values him at £9 million, but the Austrian club will not accept a bid that low.

The adolescent still has four years left on his current contract. Salzburg can provide Sesko with something that United cannot: Champions League football. The Austrians have already qualified for this season’s competition’s group stage after reaching the knockout stages last season, losing 8-2 on aggregate to Bayern Munich in the last 16.
