Before traveling to the London Stadium, Arsenal had failed to beat West Ham in the two matches they played. They lost 2-0 at home in the Premier League and 3-1 in the EFL Cup. This time they ensured that they didn’t lose this game, humiliating the hosts in the process.
Arsenal put four goals past the Hammers in the first half itself, ensuring they didn’t show any mercy. The first three goals came through set pieces. William Saliba opened the scoring after heading from a corner by former Hammer, Declan Rice. Bukayo Saka scored the 2nd from the spot, after being fouled by keeper Alphonso Areola. In the same fixture the previous season, he had missed a penalty.

Gabriel Magalhaes scored his third goal in four games, as he scored off a free-kick by Rice. Leandro Trossard put in the fourth goal in the dying minutes of the half, curling the ball past Areola.
As the Gunners and their fans celebrated their fourth goal, West Ham fans began leaving the stadium. The fans had been lively before the start of the scoring, chanting and supporting their players, but booing Rice. As Trossard put the ball in the goal, the broadcast showed how thousands of fans walked out even before the referee had called half-time.

Arsenal didn’t stop their onslaught in the half-time, as they put two more goals to the scoreline. Bukayo Saka scored with a low shot in the near post after Areola thought he would be aiming for the far post. Declan Rice smashed a first-time stunner just minutes later, beating Areola and hitting the top left corner.

As the Gunners continued controlling the game, while also bringing in players off the bench. Ethan Nwaneri, the youngest player to debut in the PL, got his first start in over a year. The traveling fans decided to have some fun around the 75th minute, they started chanting how half their team put the ball in the host’s net.
Winning 6-0, Arsenal are now tied on points with Manchester City and two points behind Liverpool. The score line helped them out, as they now had the same goal difference as City and just one below the Reds. They now face Burnley in the Turf Moor on 17th February.
Meanwhile, things keep getting worse for David Moyes and his boys. The Hammers have failed to win a single match since the start of the new year. They were knocked out of the FA Cup by Bristol City, and have managed three points in their last five matches.
