Crystal Palace may have lost against Brighton by four goals to one earlier this month. However, there was one positive takeaway for the visitors. A video making rounds on social media shows a young Palace fan hilariously taunting the opposition crowd. As the players were warming up before kick-off, a young Crystal Palace fan took to the pitch.
The young fan was subject to taunts and boos from the home as he prepared to take a penalty against the Crystal Palace mascot – Pete the Eagle. However, his composure was unwavering as he calmly dispatched the shot past the mascot. It remains safe to say that the celebration that followed was ‘unexpected’ to say the least.
The young fan did not hesitate to have a go at the ‘unruly’ away fans, whom he immediately silenced with a finger to the lips. He then proceeded to repeatedly flipping off the Brighton crowd. This caused a loud cheer from the home fans, which the young fans thoroughly enjoyed.
He then tapped the club crest on his jacket as he made his way around the stadium. His antics made him an instant legend among the fans, and as some would say – a proper Palace fan.
Crystal Palace fans hail young fan for riling up Brighton crowd
There’s nothing more satisfying in football than silencing an unruly opposition crowd. Crystal Palace fans enjoyed every moment of the young fan’s celebration as the Brighton crowd had a taste of their own medicine. A fan hailed the young fan as a little legend for his ‘bold’ celebration. Others trolled the Brighton fans, pointing out that they chose to boo a young fan of all people.
A fan said that the kid thoroughly ‘owned’ the Brighton crowd. Others chipped in and said that they love kids like him. Many were at a loss for words, as the child chose to show both his middle fingers at the crowd, and repeatedly so. One fan said that his celebration might be enough for Roy Hodgson, the Crystal Palace manager to give him a start next game.
That being said, Palace did not have the best of nights on Monday against Chelsea. The Eagles were beaten 3-1 at home by a rejuvenated Chelsea side. With the loss, Palace dropped to 15th, one point behind Brentford who also have a game in hand. They take on Everton and Burnley in their next two games and will look to shake off the back-to-back defeats suffered against Brighton and Chelsea last week.
