Shakira has once again wrapped herself in controversy, but this time it has nothing to do with Gerard Piqué. The singer has been notified of a second investigation into tax fraud, leading to new complications with the Ministry of Finance and Public Function of Spain. As reported by La Verdad Noticias, the Colombian native of Barranquilla is now facing a second alleged tax fraud case.
It’s worth noting that she was already under investigation and awaiting trial for supposedly refusing to pay 14.5 million euros in taxes. The Spanish judge accepted the local prosecutor’s request to initiate investigations into the alleged tax fraud that occurred during her residency in Barcelona in 2018. The total amount of money involved in both cases remains undisclosed at this point.
Similar to the first accusations of tax fraud, which covered the period between 2012 and 2014, Shakira has responded to the new investigation through a statement issued by her legal team. In the statement, she revealed that she has not been officially notified about this new legal process. She insisted that the Spanish authorities must follow proper procedures.
Shakira’s legal team expressed their frustration with the situation, stating that she once again learned about the lawsuit through the media. They highlighted the media’s role in subjecting her to immense public and reputational pressure. Moreover, they emphasized that they will not comment further on the matter until the formal and legally established notification reaches Shakira through appropriate channels.
Shakira lashes out on reporter for asking inappropriate question
The Colombian singer became visibly upset and reacted strongly when a paparazzi asked her an inappropriate question upon her arrival in Miami after her visit to Europe. The incident occurred while she was with her children, Sasha and Milan, whom she shares with her former partner Gerard Pique.
As reported by Marca Magazine, a reporter from the show “El Gordo y la Flaca” named Leonel Arguelles approached Shakira as she was heading towards her car after leaving the airport. Initially, he asked about her recent musical productions and her visits to Barcelona and London, requesting a greeting for her fans. However, things took a turn when he asked if she would consider romantic involvement with him.
Clearly angered, Shakira snapped at the reporter, urging him to show a little respect. Without engaging further, she got into her car and drove away. She was clearly not willing to entertain such invasive and inappropriate questions, especially in the presence of her children.
