Throwback to when former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte brought out his humor following an Erling Haaland hat-trick. Rewind to last season, where Manchester United were absolutely demolished by a rampant City side, winning the match 6-3, with Haaland and Foden getting the goals. Following the match, Laporte penned down a funny as well as ‘cryptic’ message of sorts on the match-ball.
The Spanish defender wrote, “I have signed more balls for your hat-tricks than contracts.” This was Haaland’s third hat-trick for the Citizens and not the last of them. Haaland ended up as the top-scorer last season netting 36 goals while also breaking Mo Salah‘s record for most goals scored in a single season. Fast forward to the current season, Laporte has left the defending champions to join Saudi side Al-Nassr on a 3-year deal. The deal involves Man City receiving £27.5 million for his services.
Whether the player meant a move away from the Etihad or signing with a different team back in October is yet to be revealed. After 5 Premier League trophies and one Champions League, Laporte leaves City after a very successful stint at the club and as one of Pep’s favorite players as well. His ‘cryptic’ message on Haaland’s match-ball still remains up for debate.
Haaland challenged by track runner Alica Shmidt for a 400m race
The Norwegian superstar was recently challenged for a 400m race by Alica Shmidt, often referred to by many as the world’s ‘hottest’ athlete. While taking part in the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, the athlete sent out an open invitation to the superstar. She feels confident in herself to get the better of the Norwegian across 400m.
Shmidt had also defeated German defender Mats Hummels in a similar race back in the year 2021. Haaland is yet to reply to Alica’s challenge with Netizens and fans in anticipation of the same. Haaland was one of the fastest players in the Prem last season with a top speed of 36.22 km/h. Schmidt has a personal record time of 52.18 over 400m.
