Ilkay Gundogan the former Manchester City captain, has joined Barcelona on a free after being dismissed by the club, seven years after joining them from Borussia Dortmund. But, according to recently surfaced reports, Gundogan has joined Barcelona on his own accord and there was a third person who convinced him to do so.
Reports have emerged that Ilkay Gundogan’s Barca move was influenced due to personal reasons. He even rejected a new contract worth double his current deal. It was Gundogan’s wife, Sara Arfaoui who convinced him to move to Barcelona. She has been trying for years to get this move to happen.
Sara Arfaoui is the wife of the German footballer. She is a French model, TV personality, and actress who was born in 1995 in France. With 600k followers on Instagram, the actress has a strong presence on social media. She is a massive Barcelona fan and thus pushed for the move. Gundogan and his wife had made their relationship public in 2021.
Gundogan had a fantastic season with Manchester City and now he departs. He had appeared in 304 games for Manchester City, scoring 60 goals and assisting on 40 others. He has five Premier League titles, four Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, one English Super Cup, and a Champions League to his name.

Barcelona finalizing their first sale of the season, starting with a defender
Barcelona is taking measures to offload players who are surplus to the system. Barcelona is nearing a permanent deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Clement Lenglet, who spent the 2022-23 season on loan at the Premier League club.
A meeting on Tuesday made progress, but there is still work to be done before a settlement can be reached. This is not ideal for Barcelona, who are eager to get Lenglet out before the transfer window closes. Barcelona would like to restructure their finances and trim their roster in order to sign new players. This will also help them raise funds to get out of their financial woes.
The north-London side would not be in much of a rush to buy the French center back and according to reports, Daniel Levy is ready to negotiate. Spurs are looking to buy Lenglet for a discounted price of £5 million whereas, the Blaugrana are firm on a £15 million price tag.
