Who is Lamine Yamal? The youngest player ever to play for Barcelona
The youngster has just become the youngest player to feature for the club in over a century.
FC Barcelona have another exciting prospect on their hands as Lamine Yamal has debuted for the Blaugrana. The Catalan club have had plenty of graduates from their esteemed academy, La Masia that have grown into superstars. The club will be hoping that Yamal is another youngster who can fulfil that billing.
Yamal was born in 2007 to a Moroccan father and an Equatorial Guinean mother in Mataró, Spain. Lamine Yamal spent most of his childhood in Barcelona. The Spanish national joined La Masia in 2012, at the age of just five. The youngster has been at the academy since and has featured for all levels of the Spanish national team.
The Spaniard has just made history at Barcelona, being the youngest player to ever feature for the club. Yamal is also the youngest-ever footballer to play in the UEFA Youth League for the Blaugrana, beating Ilaix Moriba to the title. The only younger debutant was Albert Almasqué, who was 13 years, 11 months and 6 days old when he played in the Copa Macaya, in 1902, over a century ago.
Yamal came on as a substitute for Gavi after 86 minutes, and despite only being on for seven minutes, the Spaniard had an impact on the game. Yamal nearly grabbed a goal, but Rui Silva’s splendid save denied him. The 15-year-old has a bright future ahead of him. If Xavi can protect the player and ensure his growth, Yamal will become an important player for Barcelona in the future.

FC Barcelona grab four as win keeps them 11 points clear
FC Barcelona have returned to winning ways, following their recent loss to Rayo Vallecano. The Catalan club had only won one match out of their last four in the league, and needed a win to stabilize themselves. The Blaugrana responded to their poor run of form in spectacular fashion at Camp Nou.
Andreas Christensen opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a sublime header. Robert Lewandowski doubled the Catalan’s lead in the 36th minute, taking his league tally to 19 goals. Raphinha then added a third for the Blaugrana three minutes later as a late own goal by Guido Rodriguez settled the match.
The win keeps the leaders 11 points clear. Barcelona only need another three wins to guarantee the top spot. This would be the Blaugrana’s first league title since 2019. The Catalan club have endured a few harsh seasons since the pandemic, but look set to return to their usual best.
