Barcelona center-back, Gerard Pique, has revealed why he hasn’t tied the knot officially with his partner and renowned pop star Shakira. Pique claimed that he is satisfied with where he is in life and doesn’t feel marriage would influence their relationship.
During an appearance on Gary Neville’s The Overlap, Pique discussed his relationship with Shakira and was asked why they’re yet to tie the knot. In response, Pique stated that their relationship “works good” even without marriage and thus, there is no need for them to officially tie the knot.
“No, I’m not married. It’s her mentality! I like it how we are right now. We have two kids, nine and seven, we work good as a couple. We don’t have the need to be married, it’s fine,” said Pique.
Neville then joked his former Manchester United teammate had already popped the question and been turned down which saw Pique reply: “No no no, I would tell you!”

In the same interview, Pique recalled how he met Shakira. Interestingly, Pique and Shakira met whilst at the South Africa World Cup, in which the singer wrote the hit anthem Waka Waka. “She was already there because she sang in the opening ceremony, and I asked her what the weather was like,” Pique explained.
“It is the typical stupid question… it got to the point where I told her we would have to get to the World Cup final to see her again — she was singing at the final.” The defender won the entire tournament, beating the Netherlands in the final before the pair got together.
