“Words can’t describe Cristiano” – Manchester United new boy Anthony speaks highly of teammate Cristiano Ronaldo

After praising Cristiano Ronaldo and all he has learned from the Manchester United forward since joining the team from Ajax, Antony believes there are no words to adequately explain the Portuguese legend. Cristiano Ronaldo has an “extraordinary mind,” according to new Manchester United winger Antony, who told the Red Devils’ official club website that he is learning a lot from the Old Trafford hero.

On deadline day last week, Erik ten Hag broke out the wallet to bring Antony to the Premier League. Manchester United agreed to an initial £81.5 million price with Ajax, which raises by £4.25 million after add-ons, to put an end to the summer of rumours linking the Brazilian to a move to England.

On Ronaldo, the 22-year-old said, “Words can’t describe Cristiano, the best in the world. In just a few days, I’ve learnt a lot from him. He has an extraordinary mind and, whenever I talk to him, I take a lot from it.”

Antony remarked that United’s attack was very strong and had much promise not only presently but also for the future. The former Ajax star was quizzed about his unique and entertaining style of play. He replied, “I’ve always done this. Not just here but for all the teams I’ve played for. I’ve been doing it ever since I was a child. I’ve always done it – it’s one of my characteristics.”

The Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag also managed to retain Ronaldo for a second term back at Old Trafford following his return in August 2021. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer agreed an upfront £13m fee with Juventus for the 37-year-old, with add-ons taking the figure to £20m on a two-year contract.

Ronaldo marked his return to the Premier League by ending last season third in the Golden Boot race with 18 goals, plus three assists, in 30 games. He also scored six over seven games in the Champions League, having scored during each of his appearances through Group F.
