Zlatan Ibrahimovic allegedly accepted a wage reduction in exchange for signing a new one-year agreement with AC Milan and forgoing retirement. The Swedish striker, who is presently recovering from an injury, has agreed to a new contract that would keep him playing till he is at least 41 years old.
Ibrahimovic, 40, lost his contract with AC Milan last week, making him a free agent. Due to a bad knee injury, the celebrity was lately on the verge of having to retire. After six months of playing without an ACL, he underwent surgery and now must endure a difficult time of recuperation.
The Serie A winners, though, were eager to keep the maverick who had previously played for Manchester United, Inter, and Barcelona.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not finished – he will stay at AC Milan:

In an effort to persuade Ibrahimovic to stay, club executives met with his agents last week to discuss an agreement despite his physical problems.
Despite his issues, manager Stefano Pioli views the veteran as a significant influence in the locker room and on the field. Now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says a deal has already been reached. “Zlatan Ibrahimovic has chosen to extend his contract with AC Milan,” he tweeted.
According to the deal, “Zlatan will stay on for one more season until June 2023. Although Ibrahimovic’s knee injury will require 6–7 months to heal, he will accept a reduced wage.
As Milan won their first Scudetto since 2011 last season, the superstar still ended up scoring eight goals in 27 games despite his advanced age.
At the conclusion of the season, he said the following about his injury: “For the past six months I played without an ACL in my left knee. Swollen knee for six months.
“I was only able to train with the team 10 times in the last six months. Took more than 20 injections in six months. Emptied the knee once a week for six months.”
