‘Like father, like son’ – Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s son gets his maiden Sweden call-up

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the best footballers to grace the football pitch. He has scored over 400 goals in 600 appearances for clubs and has 62 goals for his nation, Sweden. He is regarded as the greatest Swedish Footballer and now it looks like his son is close to representing his nation. 

Vincent Ibrahimovic, Zlatan’s youngest son, plays for the AC Milan U-15 team and has now been called up for a camp organized by the Sweden Football Association. The camp is for players who are eligible to play for the U-15 Sweden team and will be held in December.

Vincent is one of the 66 players to be called up by Axel Kjall, the manager of the Sweden U-15 team. Kjall called up Vincent after going through clips of the 15-year-old’s performances. He states that the superstar’s son is a good central midfielder who has great passing, and finishing and has a good grasp of the game. He acknowledges the fact that there could be an uproar as he called up Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s son, but it’s the first time the younger footballer is involved.

Rafael Leao opens up about his relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimovic 

Rafael Leao joined AC Milan in 2019 after an impressive season with Lille and immediately established himself in the Milan-based team. In 2021 he finally got recognition for his performances and was part of a great attacking group with players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ante Rebic. Although he had a good partnership with Ibrahimovic, he revealed that the Milan legend rarely spoke to him, unless he had a bad performance.

When I played well, he wouldn’t speak to me. Only when I played badly. He concentrated on the details a lot, he wasn’t interested in dribbling. Sometimes he would tell me: ‘Rafa, you have to control it like this and immediately take it towards the goal. With your talent, you can’t make mistakes with a touch like that.’

In the 19F Podcast, Leao revealed that Ibrahimovic never spoke to him when he had a good performance. But whenever the winger had a bad day in office, Ibrahimovic concentrated on the small details and used to tell him where he could improve.
