Odisha FC rope in attacking midfielder Liridon Krasniqi on loan for 2021/22 ISL season

Odisha FC have signed Malaysian international Liridon Krasniqi on loan for the upcoming Hero Indian Super League season 2021/22. The 29-year old attacking midfielder joins the club from the Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta’zim FC.

He has become the 5th International player to have signed for the club after they announced the signing of Spanish duo Aridai Cabrera and Hector Rodas earlier this month. Born in Yugoslavia, Krasniqi had represented the Albania U-21 side during his younger days before shifting base to Kosovo.

He made a total of 3 appearances for the Kosovo National side, all of which came in the time frame of 2014-15. However, he switched allegiances once again earlier this year after he received his Malaysian citizenship and went onto represent the national side against the United Arab Emirates in a FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifying match.

Liridon Krasniqi became a popular name in the Malaysian Super League, as he played there ever since 2015. Krasniqi was last seen in action in the Australian A-League for the Newcastle Jets in 2020/21. He made a total of 9 appearances for the club but failed to find the back of the net.

In all, he has made a total of 174 appearances in his lengthy career which has now spanned for over 10 years and has scored a healthy 38 goals.

After signing for Odisha FC, he said, “I am really delighted to join Odisha FC and I am looking forward to starting an amazing journey in India. I hope it will be a great season ahead under Head Coach Kiko Ramirez. I can’t wait to get started and meet my teammates at OFC.
