Odisha FC sign Spanish defender Hector Rodas
Odisha FC has announced the signing of Spanish defender Hector Rodas ahead of the upcoming Indian Super League 2021/22 season. The centre-back has agreed to the terms and will now offer his services for the Odisha-based club.
Rodas is a Valencia-born defender, who began his footballing career as a young player with Levante before making his professional debut for the reserve side and then the main side in 2009. The 33-year-old has also represented Elche, Betis, Cordoba, Cultural Leonesa, and Alcorcon in Spain. In 2017, he made his debut appearance for a foreign club, joining Belgian club Cercle Brugge.
Rodas was delighted to sign with Odisha FC and stated that he is looking forward to playing in India wants to help the club to reach towards glory. “I am extremely happy to join Odisha FC. I am looking forward to meeting my teammates and the coaches and also reaching India for the ISL. I want to achieve good things at OFC and we all will work towards one common goal. Come on Odisha!” said Hector Rodas in a press release.
Odisha FC Head coach Kiki Ramirez heaped praises for the centre-back claiming that Rodas provides a much-needed balance in the lineup and his experience of playing in Spain’s top-tier would help the side march towards success.
“Hector is going to give us the defensive balance that we need to improve the tactical game of the team. He is an experienced player who played in the first division in Spain and knows how to command the defensive line. He is also an aggressive player in defending and can help us in taking good decisions during the game for the build-up. He is a winner in a duel with the ball in the air and he will give us power in set-pieces both in attack and in defence,” said Kiko Ramirez.
Odisha FC’s signings so far in the transfer window
Odisha FC have been quite busy in the transfer market this summer as they have acquired eight signings so far. Along with Hector Rodas, they have also acquired the services of Spanish players Javi Hernandez and Victor Mongil.
The Indian arrivals include the likes of Isaac Vanmalsawma, Lalruatthara, Sahil Panwar, and Sebastian Thangmuansang. They have also roped in Nikhil Raj on a loan transfer from Kickstart FC.
