Ole Gunnar Solskjaer laments not having won a single trophy during his tenure as Manchester United's manager

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is facing immense criticism and is highly under pressure after the club’s humiliating 4-2 defeat against Leicester City. Considering recent outcomes falling against Man Utd, who have dropped outside of the top four places, Solskjaer is under rapidly expanding scrutiny.

The season is still fresh, with United having only played 11 games, but major flaws remain for the club with an unbalanced midfield, an offense that relies on individuals rather than a cohesive strategy, and defensive ineptness.

In a press conference before Man Utd’s Champions League clash against Atalanta, Solskjaer cited the progress of the club over the years under his management and also claimed that he is under pressure owing to the recent results. However, he stated that he is open about his views and believes that he can help the club achieve success.

“We’ve progressed over the years. Sixth in half-season, third, second. You can see the progress. We have signed players which have raised expectations but we are in the same boat as other top teams. Pressure on me of course but we have been through this before. I am in dialogue with the club all the time, it is an open and honest discussion. I have got my values as long as the club believes in me, I have my way of managing and I believe in myself,” said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Further, he added that the team is not happy after their latest defeat against Leicester City and are focused on coming back strong against Atalanta.

“It is not a jovial happy camp, they are focused and determined. Conceding four goals is a big eye-opener for us. What I’ve done? As with every game, we analyze the game, look at what we have to improve on. But you move on quickly, which is Atalanta. We focus on what we need to be good at,” added Solskjaer.

Since his arrival at Man Utd, Cristiano Ronaldo has netted five goals in six appearances. He’s scoring goals, but he’s 36, and his reduced agility and capability to press from the forefront as United’s center forward appears to be affecting the players around him. However, Solskjaer backed him and cited the fact that the Portugal striker is doing his best to aid the team.

“We have got 11 players out there with different roles. We put a team out we think will win a game, if we don’t win there will always be criticism. He is doing everything he can to help the team,” said Solskjaer.
