Kylian Mbappe once again showed the football world why he’s regarded to take over after the legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo finally hang up their boots. Mbappe gave PSG a 1-0 win against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie. The game was largely dominated by the French giants but they were unable to break the Los Blancos backline.
In the second half Mbappe won a penalty for his side. However Lionel Messi saw his spot saved by Thibaut Courtois. But the French international left it very late as he got past two defenders before slotting home past Courtois in the 94th minute. Many said that it was an audition for Kylian Mbappe if the forward is to make a move to Real Madrid in the future.
However PSG may have won the battle but lost the war as Mbappe is most likely leave the French capital and will head to Santiago Bernabeau on a free transfer in the summer according to Marca. The news was more or less confirmed by Kylian Mbappe after he gave his post match interview in Spanish after he was named the Man of the Match and also had a wink at the end of it. PSG president face after the game in the director’s box also told the whole story alongside his counterpart Florentino Perez.
It is a custom with a big Champions League game like this as Al-Khelaifi and Florentino Perez shared a dinner before the game.
