Premier League: Players who could make their move to Premier League in the January Transfer Window

The Summer Transfer window was packed with excitement as we saw the likes of Lionel Messi moving out from Barcelona to PSG whereas Cristiano Ronaldo making his way back home to Manchester United from Juventus.

The Premier league clubs made the summer transfer window in the 2021/22 season nerve wrecking as at each and every moment some exciting news came up until the deadline was over. But this is not over yet as there are still some players who are rumoured to join the Premier League clubs in the January Transfer Window. Let’s take a look at the possible transfers we might see in January.

1. Luis Alberto to Leicester City

Luis Alberto

Luis Alberto might return to the Premier League in the January Transfer Window as reports suggests that Leicester City is interested to buy the Spanish winger. Alberto’s previous spell in the English Premier League with Liverpool was a failure as he was not able to live up to the expectations. After his move to Lazio in 2016 Alberto bloomed into a wholesome player where he consistently provided performance to prove himself.

We will have to wait and see if this rumour comes true in January as Luis Alberto recently renewed his contract with Lazio until June 2025 and had plan to stay in the Italian League although a better offer from the Leicester side might bring him back to the English Premier League.

2. Dusan Vlahovic to Manchester City

Dusan Vlahovic

Dusan Vlahovic has attracted many big clubs with his incredible gameplay in Fiorentina. Manchester City has kept an eye on the Serbian striker for a few years now and is interested to buy the youngster in the January Transfer Window. Manchester City has been looking for a striker since the summer transfer window after the departure of Aguero for Barcelona. They were interested to buy Harry Kane this summer but after the deal collapsed they will be having their eye on the Fiorentina striker.

Fiorentina wanted to renew contract with Vlahovic but the Serbian striker does not look interested. Many other clubs besides Manchester City is interested to buy him but Tottenham alongside City looks to be the two main competitors as both the teams are in dire need of a young striker who can lead the frontline.

3. Matthijs de Ligt to Chelsea

Matthijs De Ligt

Matthijs De Ligt is tied to Juventus until the summer of 2024 but recent reports have suggested that Chelsea is interested to buy the Dutch international centre back after their deal with Sevilla for Jules Kounde failed in the Summer Transfer Window. Although Chelsea currently has a strong back line this season they still will be looking to induce more power into the backline by signing De Ligt but the rumours might not come true as Chelsea might wait till the end of the season to make the signing.

If a good offer is put on the table for De Ligt by the recent European Champions then he might be tempted to move from Juventus as currently the Italian team has been providing some average performance in all competition. After the defeat against Juventus in the first leg fixture of the Champions League, Chelsea has engaged their eyes more on the Dutch defender.

4. Christopher Nkunku to Manchester City

Christopher Nkunku

The French winger Christopher Nkunku is a young talent who has been representing RB Leipzig for the last couple of years. His contract with the German club expires in 2024. Manchester City have their eye on the youngster after Nkunku scored a hattrick in the first match in the UEFA Champions League this season. Although RB Leipzig lost the match 6-3, Nkunku’s masterclass performance attracted Pep Guardiola’s interest.

If this rumour comes to be true then Manchester City might sign the French striker this January as the English Club needs some extraordinary young bloods to be injected in the lineup. Manchester City has been performing really well this season and is taking down each every opponent in their way, with the new rumoured signings the English Club might become the best team this season not only in the Premier League but in the Europe.

5. Ollie Watkins to Tottenham Hotspur

The Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins has attracted the attention of Tottenham Hotspur as they are in search of a striker as Harry Kane’s contract looks to expire in the next summer. After his exceptional performance for Brentford in the 2019 season Watkins was signed by Aston Villa in 2020 where he has bloomed and has been delivering some exceptional results.

Although there is huge chance that Watkins might not make a move from Aston Villa as the English striker has become the regular player for the Villa side and there is a chance of him being benched if he signs with Tottenham which is absolutely not the ideal decision as he is currently at the peak of his career. And moreover Watkins has spend only a season in Aston Villa so he will be looking to prove his worth more in the following years.
