The English Premier League has witnessed some of the fastest and most fierce football of all time. The league tournament founded in 1992 is placed in the top tier when it comes to English football. Founded in 1992, a total of twenty clubs compete in the league system playing 38 matches per season. 

From setting records in the number of goals in a single season by a particular player to the number of goals in the first half, English football has been the gold standard in the footballing universe. Today marks the fourth match in the history of the Premier League where a team has recorded the most number of goals in the first half.

Today marks another tally after Newcastle netted five goals against Tottenham Hotspur in just 21 minutes of the first half. Here is a look at the list of matches with the most number of goals in the first half of Premier League history.

The history started with Southampton securing a storming victory by six goals against Aston Villa. The former Liverpool forward Sadio Mané who played in Southampton started the scoring in the home ground of St. Mary Stadium. The Bayern Munich star scored a hat-trick in just six minutes scoring goals in 13, 14 and the 16th minute against Aston Villa. Shane Long also joined the party scoring a brace in ten minutes to halftime taking the lead to five. The home side brushed aside Aston Villa, sealing a victory by six goals to one. The only concession goal for the away team came from Cristian Benteke in injury time right before halftime.

Premier League giants Manchester City also found their place in the table after scoring five goals before halftime against Watford in the Etihad. David Silva started the scoring for the Netizens in the first minute of the game. Argentine star Sergio Aguero took the lead ahead converting a penalty, in less than ten minutes. Riyad Mahrez and Nicolas Otamendi found themselves on the scoresheet in less than 20 minutes of the first half. Winger Bernardo Silva sealed a hat-trick in the game while securing his first goal in the fifteenth minute. The match ended with eight goals to zero, adding De Bruyne in the scoresheet.

The visitors thanked Ben Chilwell to start the scoring right in the tenth minute. The match witnessed two hat tricks along with nine goals. Ayoze Perez scored a brace in the first half and another in the second half. On the other hand, Englishman Jamie Vardy opened his goal account right before halftime and secured the other two in the second half of the game.
