FC Barcelona has decided to make Xavi Hernandez, former Barca legend as their new head coach after the dismissal of Ronald Koeman on Thursday morning after the humiliating defeat of the Catalan club against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
Joan Laporta was in contact with Xavi Hernandez for some days as Ronald Koeman’s job was already on the line and with Wednesday’s defeat against Rayo Vallecano it was finally confirmed.
Xavi Hernandez had the most appearances for Barcelona with 767 caps until Lionel Messi took over him in 2021 and made a new record of 778 caps before he left Paris Saint Germain.
Xavi Hernandez’s success rate with Al Sadd has been above 60%
Xavi hung his boots as a player in Al Sadd, where after a few years he decided to try his experience in Managing the club which turned out to be a great success for him as since 2019 he has won seven titles with club.
The Managerial career of Xavi Hernandez has been nothing but positive. He has managed till now 89 matches and have successfully won 61 matches, 12 draws and 16 losses, having a win percentage of 68.53% which is very impressive.
Xavi Hernandez is tied to Al Sadd until 2023 but going by the current circumstances he will be looking to end his managerial in the Qatari club much before than the contracted terms as FC Barcelona’s offer to sign him is also on the cards.
