Scotland locked their horns with Czech Republic in their first ever European Championship appearance in 23 years. Scotland named a possible strong line-up without Kieran Tierney who was ruled out of the game due to a niggle. Scotland wanted to leave an impression as they are put alongside England and Croatia in Group D. The same was the case with Czech Republic.
Czech Republic started off the game with a great tempo sending waves of attacks. However, Scotland were able to repel the attack. In a brief period of 10 minutes, Scotland were able to launch the attack. Czech Republic found the back of the net in the 42nd minute when Peter Schick glanced a header into the back of the net. Czech Republic went with a one goal lead at the half-time.
In the second half, Scotland tried to equalise but in return they conceded the goal that was Puskas worthy. Peter Schick scored the goal almost from the half-line doubling the lead. Scotland tried relentlessly and came close to score the first goal in the 80th minute. However, Czech Republic held onto the lead taking all three points home.
