A teary-eyed Sergio Ramos promises return to Real Madrid in his farewell interview

The inevitable has finally happened as Real Madrid captain and defender Sergio Ramos has announced that he will leave the club at the end of this season.

The defender leaves the club after having spent 16 years after signing from Sevilla in 2005. He is one of Madrid’s greatest captains in terms of what he has achieved at the club and will go down as one of the greatest players to have donned the Royal white jersey of Real Madrid.

The 35-year old defender was in tears during his Los Blancos farewell: “I’ll come back here one day, I’m sure. I want to say a huge thanks to Real Madrid, I will always carry you in my heart”.

“It’s one of the hardest moments of my life. I came from my father’s hand (crying). I was a child when I came, and today I have a wonderful family. I want to thank you.”
