South American, EPL players might face ban for not reporting in the World Cup Qualifiers
The recent rise in the number of Covid cases in South America had many countries red listed. Due to this situation many players decided not to go and the ones who travelled are now requested to be in quarantine for 10 days before they resume normal activities with their respective clubs.
Players who are expected to face a ban
Many players who plays in the Premier League, did not report to their respective countries to play the World Cup Qualifiers. Now the South American National Association has filed complaint against them and have requested FIFA to place ban on these players.
Liverpool might have to play this week without Alisson, Fabinho and Firmino. Although Firmino might not have played in general as he suffered an injury. There has been meetings going on regarding the matter on weather to implement bans on players or not.
Jürgen Klopp has been pretty upset about not being to able to play his Brazillian players this week.
“We didn’t invite players, we didn’t say when they come back there’s no exemption. We all didn’t do that,” Klopp said
“But in the end the only [people] who get punished are the players and the clubs – and we have nothing to do with the whole organisation around.”
Manchester City players like Ederson and Gabriel Jesus is expected to face a 5 days ban since they did not report to Brazil for the qualifiers but nothing is still certain about this as the club’s are having an official meeting with the FIFA officials.
While on the other hand Lo Celso, Davinson Sanchez and Cristian Romero will be missing out on a few games with Tottenham this week as they are quarantined for at least 10 days since they returned from their International duty.
Manchester United’s manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer has been pretty upset with the whole situation, especially how it is being handled so irresponsibly.
“I think it’s a ‘lose, lose, lose’ situation for everyone – national teams, players, clubs. It’s been a farce,” Solskjaer said.
“For me, I’m disappointed with the whole thing. Common sense might not be so common any more.”
Thiago Silva is also reported to miss out on a few games with Chelsea. Manchester United will be playing without Fred in the Champions league. Manchester City will be playing without Ederson.
While players like Jimenez (Wolves), Almiron (Newcastle), Sierralta (Watford) are on the clear to play their matches as there countries have taken back their complaints and they won’t be facing any kind of bans.
English Clubs lash out on Officials for the Bizzare Management
Due to the Covid Pandemic and back to back lockdowns in the recent time, the Copa America which was cancelled last year got rearranged during this year’s summer. This caused a change in the schedule of the Qualifiers which in turn is now affecting the European Football Clubs.
Due to this situation many players who have to travel to red listed areas in South America, will have to be in quarantine for atleast 10days. The Manager of the English Clubs have retalliated to such bizzare management.
The English Clubs are now coming to the decision to not follow the rules and feature their players in the team irrespective of the situation. Premier League officials have been discussing this matter with the FIFA in meeting but nothing as such has been said yet.
