‘He has APOLOGIZED!’: Thomas Tuchel says Romelu Lukaku is back in contention for a starting spot

There’s been a lot of talk and commotion after Romelu Lukaku’s interview with Sky Sports Italia did the rounds on social media. Chelsea’s record signing revealed in the interview that he always wants to return to Inter Milan and that he was unhappy with Thomas Tuchel’s style of play.
Naturally enough this has stirred up the Blues faithful who were extremely angry at such statements and immediately called for Lukaku to be sold. There were mass protests from the Chelsea supporters as they were completely shocked by these words.
Additionally, Tuchel after assessing the situation also took the big step to drop Romelu Lukaku from the squad for the Premier League match against Liverpool which ended 2-2.

However now that things have calmed down a bit, Tuchel has revealed that he and Romelu Lukaku have sat down to talk about it. Tuchel says that Romelu Lukaku has understood the situation and has expressed his apologies.
Moreover, the German coach has also spoken on how Lukaku is determined to set things right and clean up the mess.
“First of all, we were even in the background happy that we took the time that it needed to look calmly on it and talk calmly,” Tuchel said. “He has apologised and is back in the squad for today’s training [session] later. We have had enough time to clear the air and move on.”
“For me, the most important thing was to understand and clearly understand and believe that it was not intentional. He did not do this intentionally to create noise in front of such a big game,” he added.
Chelsea have a big fixture up next against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup semi-final and will need their star striker back. Romelu Lukaku is in fact back in training and is prepping for the Spurs clash. It is the perfect opportunity for Lukaku to put behind his statements and help Chelsea win the game.
