Burnley vs Manchester United highlights

Once again Manchester United should’ve been comfortably cruising through halftime at Turf Moor against the Clarets, however 2 goals were disallowed by VAR, firstly Harry Maguire being in an offside position and then Paul Pogba fouling a Burnley defender. And as a result United went into halftime with a 1-0 lead with Paul Pogba scoring his first goal for the club since January 2021. However the interim boss agreed with the first disallowed goal but the second VAR call did not sit well with the German manager.

Burnley were level just minutes into second half with Jay Rodriguez calmly putting the ball past on-rushing David De Gea and cancelling out Pogba’s first half strike. “We knew they would come out in the second half in a more aggressive way and the only thing I can complain the team about was we were not aggressive enough in the first 20 minutes of the second half.” Ralf Rangnick told while speaking to BBC Match of the Day.

However Ralf Rangnick added that he was unhappy with his team’s second half performance and absolute slammed the players for playing ‘tiki taka football’ and not being direct and making efforts to find winner in the second half. “[In the second half] We were playing tiki-taka football in our own half and not direct enough. We had the counter-attack but gave the ball away too easily in their box.” Rangnick added.

Ralf Rangnick and Manchester United know that they need a string of results and more so victories to be in the hunt for the fourth spot in the Premier League. It was yet another dominating performance by Manchester United against Burnley but only had a point to show for in the end.

Ralf Rangnick was asked if United need to find more consistency and the boss said, “Yes, but under normal circumstances, we should have been two or three up at half time. It should have been more than 1-0. Today we scored three goals, I cannot blame the team for not scoring.” The only positive for Ralf Rangnick, the team and the United fans is that Paul Pogba is back up and running just in time before the crucial part of the season coming up.
