There are several players who have had the chance to play for both clubs either a direct transfer or being years apart. As the life long rivalry between the two clubs is known as ’El Clasico’.

4. Gheorghe Hagi

Gheorghe Hagi was Romania’s finest ever player who joined Real Madrid in 1990. Hagi had a short stature and because of his wand of a left foot he was often compared to Argentina’s legend Diego Maradona. However just Hagi was unable to make an impact at Los Blancos and just two years later he made a move to Serie B outfit Brescia and helped them get back to Serie A football in his first season. Hagi then move to the Catalan club but same as Real Madrid left after two seasons without cementing a regular first team position.

Luis Enrique was one of the most underrated player of his generation. Luis Enrique was versatile and could play in the midfield as well as upfront. Enrique made the move to Real in 1991 after successful spell at Sporting Gijon and spent five seasons with the Los Blancos and was an important player of the trophy-winning side. However the Spanish international made a move to FC Barcelona as he felt ‘unappreciated’ at Real Madrid.

The transfer did not sit well with Barca fans however after consistent performances and helping the club to win numerous trophies changed that. Luis Enrique was ever so successful as a manager at FC Barcelona winning thr treble in 2015 and winning a total of 9 trophies in three seasons at Camp Nou.
