#1) Mike Maignan – Lille OSC
In the 2020/21 season, one of the upsets happened in the French football. Lille were able to de-throne Paris St Germain from the first position to win the league. Though people credit the success to their star midfielders and strikers, it was Mike Maignan who put equal effort to win the title for the team. The French international played all 38 games and conceded 23 goals. He has 2.26 saves per 90 along with a save percentage of 79.4%. He is also touted with a move to a top European club in the near future.
#2) Keylor Navas – Paris St Germain
One of the legends at Santiago Bernabeu who left the club without a proper farewell, Keylor Navas has made it easy for PSG defenders at the back. Keylor Navas’ commanding nature led the team to the finals of UEFA Champions League in 2019/20 season whereas his goalkeeping helped the team to remain in the title race till the final day of the season.

#3) Benjamin Lecomte – Monaco
One more French shot-stopper on the list, Benjamin Lecomte was instrumental in third-placed finish of Monaco in the Ligue 1 2020/21. 13 clean sheets from 28 games stands up for his agility and reflexes. He had a save percentage of 61% in the tournament with 39 saves to his name in the league.
Monaco finished 9th in the previous term due to leaky defense but Benjamin Lecomte has helped his team to fix the issue. Monaco are fighting for a UCL spot in the qualifiers and Benjamin Lecomte will have a big role to play in the tournament.
#4) Benoît Costil – FC Girondins Bordeaux
The right-footed French shot-stopper is definitely one of the top 5 goalkeepers in Ligue 1. Though Bordeaux finished 12th in the league, he helped his side with 14 cleansheets from 38 games. He had saved 98 shots that was on target with a save percentage of 66.2. However, the leaky defense let him down as Bordeaux conceded 57 goals last term.
If Bordeaux are to stay afloat in the league, Benoit Costil will have a huge role to play. Benoit Costil will again look for glory in 2021/22.
#5) Anthony Lopes – Olympique Lyon
The Olympique Lyon shot-stopper, Anthony Lopes is the last shot-stopper in our list of top 5 goalkeepers in Ligue 1. The Portuguese shot-stopper featured in all 38 games for Lyon and had 10 clean sheets to his name. His performance helped his side to earn a spot in Europa League.
