Top Scorers of all the current 11 Indian Super League clubs

Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 is close and definitely on the horizon as the first 11 rounds of fixtures were announced just few days ago. The ISL season would run for four months, and will be held in Goa, once again, across three venues. The top tier league will feature 115 matches and will begin on 19th November, with the first installment scheduled to run until 9th January.

In the recent years, there has been a great crop of attackers, who have made life difficult for all the defenders in the Indian Super League. From foreign nationals like Coro and Miku, and Indians like Chhetri and Jeje, the leaderboards have been filled with a lot of talented players. There have been a lot of legends who have graced the pitch in India, such as Robert Pires, David Trezeguet, Diego Forlan, Nicolas Anelka and Alessandro Del Piero, but names like Ogbeche and Krishna Roy have cemented themselves in the records.

Let us take a look at all the top scorers of each current Indian Super League clubs, considering ISL statistics only:

East Bengal – Matti Steinman – 4 goals

The ex-Hamburg player was one of the best performers for the East Bengal in the previous Indian Super League season with four goals and three assists in 17 matches. He has now left the club and joined Brisbane Roar.

Jamshedpur FC – Nerijus Valskis – 8 goals

Former Chennaiyin FC striker Nerijus Valskis joined the Men of Steel in August 2020 and immediately became their top scorer in ISL with eight goals in the 20-21 season as he reunited with former boss Owen Coyle.

Hyderabad FC – Adriane Santana – 10 goals

With 10 goals in 18 matches, Adriane Santana is The Nizams’ top scorer in the Indian Super League, with all the goals coming in the 20-21 season. Previously, he played for Odisha FC where he scored seven in 14 matches.

Odisha FC – Diego Mauricio – 12 goals

The 30-year-old Brazilian forward impressed everyone in his debut campaign as he scored 12 goals for Odisha FC. In an otherwise disappointing campaign for Odisha, Mauricio was the only positive as he was in race for the golden boot.

Northeast United FC – Bartholomew Ogbeche – 12 goals

Ogbeche joined the ISL at the beginning of the 2018-19 season, but it didn’t take him long to adjust to the league’s tempo and standards. Over the first three games, he netted four goals, including a remarkable 10-minute hat-trick, and scored 12 goals in the overall campaign.

ATK Mohun Bagan – Roy Krishna – 14 goals

With 15 goals in his first season in India, Roy Krishna was instrumental in ATK’s third league title. Krishna scored 14 goals in 21 matches to assist ATK Mohun Bagan finish second in the 2020/21 season. For his efforts, the 33-year-old received the Golden Ball.

Mumbai City FC – Modou Sougou – 15 goals

Modou Sougou, a Senegalese striker, was one of Mumbai City FC’s most prominent players during his tenure there. Sogou scored 15 goals in 32 games during his time with the Islanders, which was a respectable output.

Kerala Blasters FC – Bartholomew Ogbeche – 15 goals

Ogbeche holds the record of being the top scorer of two different clubs and adding to his NEUFC tally, he had 15 goals in just 16 matches for Kerala Blasters in the 19-20 season. He then moved to Mumbai, and has now joined Hyderabad.

Chennaiyin FC – Jeje Lalpekhlua – 23 goals

Jeje Lalpekhlua can be tagged a Chennaiyin legend as he scored 23 goals in his long tenure in the Marina Arena. He played for Chennaiyin in six seasons, and is only second to Sunil Chhetri in ISL Indian scorers list.

Bengaluru FC – Sunil Chhetri – 40 goals

The Indian legend has nearly 100 goals for Bengaluru, out of which, 40 goals came in the ISL era, making him the all-time top Indian scorer. No matter the performance of the team in the season, Sunil Chhetri is always among the charts and has one league title to prove for it.

FC Goa – Ferran Corominas – 48 goals

In just three Indian Super League seasons, Ferran Corominas, also known as Coro, has cemented his name as a legend in the Indian top tier. With 48 goals in 57 ISL matches, Coro has the highest goals scored in the league till date.
