Antonio Conte and Daniel Levy

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has finally met with the Chairman of the club Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici regarding the transfers needed to revitalise his squad. The Italian manager was appointed as the head coach soon after the former boss Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked by the club after just 9 games.

Conte had asked the Spurs Board to give him until January to assess the squad and now that the winter transfer window has started, the Italian finally met with the Chairman of the club to discuss the status of his current squad.

The Italian has had a successful start to life in north London and Spurs look like a proper threat once again to challenge their rivals for the top 4 spot in the Premier League and reclaim a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte gave some positive news in his recent press conference just before Spurs’ game against Chelsea that is due to be played tonight. The Italian manager started off by giving good news that Spurs captain Hugo Lloris is expected to stay at the club beyond his current deal.

Conte said,” You know very well what I think about Hugo. Also previously I spoke and said that he’s our captain, he is a top goalkeeper for us, he has great experience. He knows Tottenham very well. He loves this shirt and this badge. For me he is an important player and I’m sure that they are going to find a solution for him to continue to play with Tottenham.”

Conte also stated that he spoke with the board regarding the transfers needed after an assessment of his squad. The Italian stated that the decisions now lies in the hands of other people in the club and he has done his bit by holding productive talks with chairman Daniel Levy and director of football Fabio Paratici.

Conte said,” First of all we have spoken about the situation. It was a good meeting because the owner and Paratici, they started together this season. I came in the middle. For sure, they know the situation better than me. It was a good meeting to tell them my thoughts after 2 months I spent in Tottenham.”

The Italian added,” What I want? I spoke with the club and I have my thoughts about the situation and I think the most important thing is the club must decide the best way to go. I don’t have any expectations. I am a coach and I know that we have to solve many problems. For me, the best possible way is to get the most out of my players and working with the squad.”

“The club knows very well our situation and have to take the best decision. I have said to the club my vision and what I have found here. After this club has to decide the best way the club has to go. I’m a coach and I teach football and I try to improve players and the level of this squad,” Conte added.

The Italian manager ended the conference by saying,” We’ll see the decision of the club, if there is the possibility to improve or not. For me, it is important to be honest with the club about my vision, expectation and what I have found and how we can improve.”
