Tottenham set a unique Premier League record after dramatic victory against Leicester City
Antonio Conte was looking to be beaten for the first time as Tottenham boss in the Premier League on Wednesday against Leicester City when his side were 2-1 down going into second half stoppage time. However substitute Steven Bergwijn scored twice in the stoppage time to take home all three points and hence sparked wild celebrations on Spurs bench and in the away end of the King Power Stadium.
Spurs went behind midway through the first half completely against the run of play with Patson Daka slotting home from close range. Harry Kane saw his header off the post and Leicester City defender Luke Thomas cleared off Kane’s effort off the line as Spurs continue to dominate. However Kane pulled his side level after getting past Caglar Soyuncu as his shot bounced off the woodwork before going in.
The home side once again took the lead in the second half as James Maddison’s shot took a deflection off Japhet Tanganga and completely beating Hugo Lloris. Antonio Conte seemed to headed to his first Premier League defeat as Spurs manager as all the missed chances were coming to haunt them. Conte sent in Steven Bergwijn in hope of an equaliser.
Tottenham were trailing 2-1 till the 94 minutes and 52 seconds but Steven Bergwijn scored two goals in space of 79 seconds to take all three points from 2-1 down and making it the latest team to begin a comeback from a losing position in Premier League. Previously it was Manchester City against QPR when Aguero’s 93 minutes and 20 seconds strike snatched the title from Manchester United with probably the last kick of the season. Edin Dzeko scored the equaliser on 91:14 minutes.
Tottenham just one point off top four with four games in hand
After their dramatic 3-2 win against Leicester City with Steven Bergwijn scroing twice in stoppage time in the space of 79 seconds to take home all three points. Antonio Conte now trail their London rivals Chelsea by 8 points with four games in hand. Conte will surely want to compete in Champions League next season and Spurs are well on course of making the top four this season.
