“Want to win Champions League with Barca”: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sets his targets after joining the Blaugrana

FC Barcelona finally made the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal FC yesterday after a long wait. The Gabonese International will be wearing the No.25 jersey which was recently left vacant after the move of Inaki Pena to Galatasaray. Aubameyang has signed a contract with the Blaugrana until 2025 and has taken a massive pay cut to make his registration possible.

After being officially presented, the former Arsenal player said, “It’s an incredible opportunity for me, it’s been a dream since I was little and it’s the opportunity of my life. Barca is one of the best clubs in the world and I am very happy to be here.”

It is not unknown that FC Barcelona has undergone a big fall in stature ever since Lionel Messi left the club last season. They are currently seated on No.5 on La Liga’s points table and they have already been knocked out of UEFA Champions League from a decent group. They will now be playing in the Europa League.

However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang thinks that they shall return to the top soon. “I know that we will return to the top, little by little,” Aubameyang said.

The Gabonese International even went to the extent of saying that he envisions winning the UEFA Champions League with FC Barcelona. “I see myself winning the Champions League with Barça. We are going to work to come back and win it,” he said.

The 32-year old missed a number of recent Premier League matches after falling out with their head coach Mikel Arteta. That ultimately speedened his move out of the club.

“I haven’t played a game in a long time, but in my head it is very clear that I am ready to play and to help,” said Aubameyang.

Talking about his differences with Mikel Arteta, Aubameyang said “I’ve talked a bit with the boss and he sees me as a number nine but if he ever needs me to play on the wing, I’m ready to play there too.”
