Everyone single person loves to have a present on the occasion of Christmas every year. But sadly some are not lucky to enjoy the gifts and other feasts because they cannot afford it or are somehow unable to have a present for themselves on Christmas. It is sad that many of underprivileged children go without a present, however there are people who are making sure they do their bit in making every child smile.
Real Betis were up against Real Sociedad playing their last home game of 2021 at the Benito Villamarin and the Betis fans at halftime donated thousands of toys for the underprivileged children on the occasion of Christmas by throwing the soft toys and other objects from the stands, a sight to behold for everyone around the world. It was a double celebration for the fans as they saw their team win their last home game comfortably and are in a commanding position in La Liga and as a result their highest standing in La Liga since 1935.
The throwing toys by the Betis fans is an annual tradition to do their bit and make sure that they put a smile on as many underprivileged children possible. There were bears to pandas to octopus to Pokemon characters and other soft toys. The stadium staff and volunteers were seen collecting the toys as they were tossed by the fans.
According to reports fans were asked to bring their gifts to the ground – no bigger than 35cm and no batteries included. They could either throw from their seats to the pitch or into blankets waiting for volunteers to catch them. With the effort and support of the fans the Real Betis collected over 19,000 soft toys.
